TESTIMONIALS
Emma Perkins was employed by us as childrens and young peoples worker here at St Pauls from January 2016 to June 2018
Emma has huge enthusiasm for what she does but far more importantly for those she does it with.
I can give no greater testimony than that when she left there were a lot of tears.
Emma engages with young people especially well and enables them to express themselves.
Their aspirations, fears, joys, hopes and anxieties are all encompassed and held in love.
How shall they know that you are my disciple?
By your love, and that is SO true of Emma
Rev Michael Beckett, former Vicar at St Paul's, Cambridge
what some people I've worked with have to say...
Emma worked as Children’s and Youth Minister at St Edward’s church York for 2 years.
She is an incredibly bubbly and enthusiastic person with a real gift for relating to people of all ages.
Her work involved going into the local primary school, organising Sunday groups for children of all ages,
midweek groups for children and teenagers, occasional preaching, after school service and activities
for primary age children and parents, organising an annual holiday club and away weekend every other year.
I would recommend her to anyone
Rev Martin Baldock, former vicar at St Edward the Confessor, York
Emma is, quite simply, youth worker “gold dust”! She has a natural warmth, humour, and lightness of touch with
our young people, and is able to combine this with appropriate firmness when necessary! She blends a wonderful creativity
and lively, engaging imaginative approach with honest, “real”, and well thought through theological thinking, at all times,
exuding a passion for Jesus and a profound love for, and commitment to, our young people.
There is an authenticity about Emma which is hugely attractive. As if all of this were not enough, Emma is, dare I say it,
that rare breed among youth workers…not only highly effective and skilled in her engagement with young people,
but also superbly organised, a highly effective administrator and communicator with us, as her “employers”. What an absolute joy!
She is, not to put too fine a point on it, “the real deal”, “the full package”! As I say, “gold dust”!
We are so blessed to have her on board, and are enormously grateful to her for all she brings to our young people.

Emma was our children’s and youth worker at St Paul’s in Cambridge for 2.5 years and showed fabulous care for the younger members of our church, building good rapport very quickly with a range of ages and really investing time in getting to know them. Her planning and activities were always fabulously creative, lots of fun, and drew out the children’s and young people’s own talents, thoughts, feelings and questions, and her incredible enthusiasm was contagious! She respected the young people’s individuality and their own very varied journeys in faith and made a very significant contribution towards our general mission statement – to help people make connections within themselves, with other people and with God”
Steph Hoskin, former line manager and Congregational Liaison, St Paul's, Cambridge
Emma has been on our church weekends away for the last 3 years to lead our young people for both relaxed times
and more formal teaching and discovery sessions. Each year we have been impressed with the quality of her topic choosing,
session planning ahead of the weekend and activity delivery during her time with us. She has led our groups of 8 - 12 young people
with humour, theological integrity and entertaining activities and she seems to love the difficult questions and quirks of teenagers!
She tailors her preparations and teaching over the 5 or so sessions to individuals' interests, knowledge and faith levels.
We certainly hope she comes on future weekends away, and we all love her warmth and helpfulness."
